Girbau has recently launched its first virtual coin-op Laundry on Second Life (SL), a virtual reality 3D world accessed via the Internet.
More than 7 million people have already created their own virtual characters and visited SL, where well known brands such as IBM, Coca-Cola, Virgin, Dell, BMW, Sony, BMG, Reebok, Apple, General Motors and Toyota have their own virtual sites.
Girbau’s virtual coin-op Laundry is located in Barcelona’s virtual shopping centre premises on Illa Diagonal.
Since clothing doesn’t actually get dirty on SL, there’s not any need for it to be washed, but visitors to Girbau’s virtual Laundromat do however receive a free virtual T shirt bearing the company’s logo.
Since Girbau has declared that “whilst it’s not our intention to do business on SL, we do intend to offer many of our clients added value. Amongst our client portfolio there’s a significant number of distributors which could clearly benefit from 7 million people being familiar with the name of Girbau. There is also the chance of attracting new distributors interested in the coin-op Laundromat business. Those who visit the virtual laundry site will get to know more about the workings of a coin-op Laundromat as well about Girbau itself as a laundry equipment manufacturer".
What is more, they add “Girbau has always encouraged innovation and not only as regards developing its own products. If we establish ourselves as the leading innovators in our sector, we also have to develop some marketing strategies appropriate to such a high ranking”.
The virtual coin-op Laundry can be visited in the Barcelona shopping centre located on l’Illa Diagonal.
Prior to this, you will have to download the software, free of charge, to be able to navigate on SL which you will find at: http://secondlife.com/community/downloads.php
The Girbau Group, whose headquarters is based in Vic (Barcelona), manufacturers laundry equipment and also fits out laundry premises, regardless of size or sector, including hotels, hospitals, coin-op Laundries, camp sites, industrial laundries, dry cleaners, sports centres, etc.
